  • About Us

KAONE Travels & Events is a registered travel agency in Tanzania. The word "kaone" — meaning "go and see" in KiSwahili, and pronounced kah-oh-neh — serves as our guiding inspiration.

We craft travel experiences that invite you to uniquely explore and discover the exceptional and pristine resources, beautiful scenery, and rich history, culture, and crafts of Tanzania. Our curated travel experiences encompass both renowned destinations — such as Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Zanzibar, and Ngorongoro — and somewhat overlooked gems like the Swahili coast, Mahale Mountains, Ruaha, and Nyerere national parks. Beyond the landscapes, we delve into the country’s nature conservation efforts and explore the diverse histories, cultures, and traditions of both indigenous communities and recent arrivals from Arabia and India.

Our mission is threefold: Firstly, to accompany and guide you in reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Secondly, to authentically showcase Tanzania through our travel experiences—hence, our motto "kaone Tanzania," meaning "go and see Tanzania." Lastly, we aim to create meaningful memories and rewarding careers for our mountain and wildlife safari guides and assistants. With KAONE, you directly employ three to seven travel professionals who advise, support, guide, and even cook for you around the clock on any trip.

  • Our Inspiration

The inception of KAONE was fueled by a trio of motivations. Firstly, to accompany and guide you in your ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro. Secondly, to authentically showcase Tanzania through our travel experiences, encapsulated in the phrase "kaone Tanzania" — go and see Tanzania. Thirdly, and equally significant, we aspire to create meaningful memories and rewarding careers for our team of mountain and wildlife safari guides and assistants. Every KAONE trip directly employs three to seven travel professionals dedicated to advising, supporting, guiding, and even cooking for you.

  • A Cause Close to Our Heart

Beyond exploration, KAONE is committed to addressing a historical imbalance. Climbing Kilimanjaro has long relied on trained mountain guides and porters, facing challenges such as low wages, seasonal variations, and inadequate support. This echoes a historical context reminiscent of Muini Amani, a cook and carrier from 19th Century Pangani, Tanzania, who supported Dr. Hans Meyer, the first European to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. Today, we aim to rectify this system, ensuring fair compensation, access to necessities, and opportunities for personal and professional growth for our team.

  • Our Focal Point: Financial Benefits for Tanzania and its People

KAONE is more than a travel experience; it's a commitment to generating financial benefits that return to Tanzania and its people. To achieve this, we operate as a fully Tanzanian-owned and operated entity. Our team of travel advisors, mountain guides, and wildlife safari assistants are all Tanzanians. As we grow, our commitment deepens — with plans to directly employ the majority of our staff, offering further training opportunities, health insurance coverage, and a reasonable minimum income throughout the year. We envision additional benefits such as pension or loan schemes to support our team in the long term.
